Day 5

On the fifth day of Christmas my true love gave to me, 5 golden rings...how about a star with 5 golden tips? Well I am thrilled with how this tag turned out. The leaping deer is one of Tim Holtz dies and I am in love with it. The die also includes another deer who is standing not leaping.

My favorite part of this tag is how the background turned out. I was a little sad to cover any part of it up. I used distress inks and stains to create the background and then sprayed it with water. If you didn't already know distress products are made to react with water. On the tag you can see where the water drops dried. I love the effect of spraying the water on my distressed projects.

And of course no project seems complete without some crackle paint. After I distressed the deer I use rock candy distress paint on him.

Well that's all for now and don't forget to join me tomorrow for another tag

Day 4

Hello friends. I love Christmas trees. It never really feels like Christmas in my house until the tree is up and decorated. This tag is all about the Christmas tree and alcohol inks. The ornaments on the tree have been alcohol inked and the tinsel tree as well. If you have never used alcohol inks they are pretty fun to play with. They work best on non-porous surfaces, so things like metal, glass, and glossy paper. You can mix colors and they dry fast. There are tons of cool techniques you can do with alcohol inks but I used them in a very simple way.

I hope you are enjoying the holidays.
Happy crafting

Day 3

Hello all. Well is there anything better then family at Christmas time? I love being with my family and taking lots of pictures. This tag was inspired by a tag that Tim Holtz did a few years ago. I loved the vintage Santa picture and how happy they looked sitting on Santa's lap.

Don't you love those buttons? Well I certainly do. They are made by Tim Holtz and I think they fit perfectly with this project. If you want to create a really beautiful vintage background you need to distress it up. Start by crinkling your paper then smooth it back out once you have it as crinkled as you like it. The use your distress inks and ink blending tool to add that vintage flair. I love using Antique linen and Vintage Photo when creating a aged background.

Please join me tomorrow for another fun tag.

Day 2

Hello Friends. I hope all is well and you are being crafty. With the stress of the holidays I like to sneak away and craft when I can, very therapeutic. Welcome to day 2 of my Christmas tags. I went pretty traditional Christmas with this tag, sticking to red, green and brown.

This beautiful flower is made out of tissue paper and is extremely easy to do. If you would like to learn how click here. After I made the flower I added the red to the tips.

The background was done with one of Tim Holtz Stencils. After using the stencil I applied rock candy crackle paint. I love love love crackle paint. If you haven't used it then you need to and soon, ranger announced they are discontinuing all crackle paints :(

Oh blogger I am so disappointed...Day 1(sort of)

Hello blog friends. This Year for Christmas I decided to create 12 tags of Christmas. I had my post all ready to go and checked today and blogger had deleted ALL of them! So that's why my "12 tags" are now just being posted. I hope you enjoy my tags and are having a wonderful holiday season. Things get so crazy this time of year I hope you take time to enjoy the company of family and friends.

Well for this tag the background is done using a Tim Holtz stencil. Stencils are a fun way to do something a little different with your projects Its a simple way to add a beautiful background to your project.. You can use inks, paints and sprays with stencils.

On the background of this tag I used a Tim Holtz embossing folder. I love snowflakes so this is definitely one of my favorite embossing folders. Embossing your projects adds texture and dimension to your projects.

Well thats all for now. Stay tuned for the rest of my wonderful tags!
